Welcome to a seminar focusing on the interface of art and science.

Elixir for the interplay between art and science

Time: Thursday 13th October 2022 13.00 – 18.00  EET/Finnish Time

Hanasaari – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre arranges a series of seminars in addition to the exhibition Symbiotic Pathways. These seminars deal with the interface of art and science and the interplay between artists and scholars. The seminars aim also to illustrate the how the interface of art and science can activate our learning and how pupils, students and teachers can benefit from it.

The series of seminars begins on Thursday October 13th at 1 PM with the theme “Elixir for the interplay between art and science” with a certain focus on water as an element, function and object in arts and research. The presentation of the participating artists in the exhibition is also of importance in this opening seminar. The exhibition has its vernissage at 5 PM.

1.00 PM Welcoming words – representative for Hanaholmen

1.05 PM Presentation of the three artists: Åsa Cederqvist, Julia Lohmann and Teemu Lehmusruusu

1.45 PM Joachim Granit, artistic director of expo Färgfabriken in Stockhom presents the concept for the exhibition “Symbiosis” from the fall of 2021

2.00 PM Hannu Salmi, professor of pedagogy, discusses learning at the interface of arts and science

2.15 PM Coffee break

2.45 PM Artist Åsa Cederqvist and researcher David Nilsson from the unit KTH-Water in Stockholm discuss their collaboration

3.15 PM A Panel discussion between the above mentioned

3.55 PM Closing words and a foresight

4.00 PM A Symbiotic Ritual for and with the Water or a Walk by the Water!

5.00 PM Vernissage

The event is free of charge, but you need to register in advance.
