Sweden and Finland - Navigating Through an Increasingly Complex World

Hosts: Ministers for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard and Elina Valtonen

We see global trends of isolationism and economic protectionism. The number of ongoing conflicts in the world is the highest since the Cold War. The security situation in our close neighbourhood is serious. Russia’s aggression against Ukraine including its full-scale invasion in 2022 is in blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter. Russia has brought massive suffering to Ukraine’s people and threatens European and international peace and security. Sweden and Finland stand firmly together as the closest of partners, EU members and now also NATO allies. We are export-driven economies that share common values and interests. How can we together contribute to European and Transatlantic support for Ukraine and international law and to European economic security?
