Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine disrupted the security situation in Europe and contributed to Finland and Sweden joining the NATO defence alliance. With its brave defence efforts, Ukraine has made its mark in history. This year’s Hanating begins with defence policy experts reflecting on the lessons of the war in Ukraine from Swedish and Finnish perspectives. The second half of the program will address how the bilateral Swedish-Finnish defence cooperation is developing within a NATO framework and what Finland and Sweden can contribute to NATO’s collective defence.
