Hanaholmen Europe Talks 2024

Hanaholmen is arranging a seminar in connection with the bilateral meeting between the EU Committees of the Finnish and Swedish Parliaments.

The EU is facing extensive internal reform work when the EU countries agree on the next strategic agenda after the EU elections in June. The future of the EU’s common security and defence policy and the development of the EU’s preparedness strategy are at a crucial stage. 30 percent of the EU’s current seven-year budget is earmarked for climate-related work. Are the measures sufficient to reach the goals in 2050, when the EU will be the world’s first climate-neutral region? How will the impending enlargement be handled and what reforms are needed? How will the outcome of the EU election affect the decision-making?
