The exhibition Children’s Book Illustrations in the gallery of Hanasaari brings together two exhibitions – one from Sweden and one from Finland. The Swedish exhibition consists of 17 illustrations that are created by sitting or former members of the Svenska Barnboksakademin Jens Ahlbom, Lena Anderson, Anna Bengtsson, Gunilla Bergström, Ann Forslind, Sara Gimbergsson, Gunna Grähs, Per Gustavsson, Pija Lindenbaum, Barbro Lindgren, Sara Lundberg, Sven Nordqvist, Pernilla Stalfelt, Cecilia Torudd, Johan Unenge, Emma Virke and Stina Wirsén.

The Finnish exhibition invites the viewer physically into the world of the picture book. The exhibition consists of illustrations made by Linda Bondestam, Lena Frölander-Ulf and Jenny Lucander. The Finnish exhibition, Kuvakirjan olemus,  has been arranged with the support from Svenska Kulturfonden, Svenska folkskolans vänner and Konstsamfundet.

Before stepping into the gallery, the visitor is met by a big tapestry, with an illustration by the Finnish illustrator and author Mauri Kunnas.

Many of us have strong memories tied to the first books we read. In the exhibition you will meet many familiar faces that you, your children or your grandchildren grew up with. Old and new favorite characters meet, and emotions are evoked. Hanaholmen is glad to present these two exhibitions together in a new ensemble.

The exhibition is created together with Svenska Barnboksakademin (Sweden) and All Things Content (Finland).  The exhibition, Children´s Book Illustartions has been arranges with the support from: Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Stiftelsen Brita Maria Renlunds minne sr.
